Perhaps you want to add a little Asian allure in your living room with a detailed, black, chest type console table in a classic Chinese design. Make a statement with the Mediterranean flair of a large aged ivory chest type console table with black marble top. Or keep it clean, simple and modern with a black metal table with glass shelves. Any console table you choose will give you the opportunity to display a few favorite photos; a vase of fresh blooms or perhaps a bit of your favorite collections of bits and baubles in old apothecary jars.
Perhaps the best and most popular uses of console tables are in entryways and as accent pieces in a living room. For example, when you come through the door of your home, you are generally carrying something that needs to be set down in a convenient location. This may be your briefcase, groceries, or just a set of keys that need to be placed in a spot where they won't get lost. The idea also holds true for many other items, ranging from homework to purses. For this reason, the console table may be one of the most highly utilized pieces of furniture in your collection. And if you're going to use it every day, you want it to be attractive. Fortunately, these tables come in so many styles and materials that it is easy to ensure they complement other pieces in the room. In a smaller room or entryway, you might want to match the material from which your table is constructed with nearby window sills or doors in the space where it resides, although different styles can be paired in a room, depending on paint colors and flooring.
The shape of a console table is something that shouldn't be overlooked. Most are designed as straight squares or rectangles, but other tables are designed as half-circles which can be placed up against the back of a wall. If you choose the half-circle style, make sure there's going to be ample room to walk by still. Some people place large console tables in the hallway only to find out they can't comfortably walk by them.
Using a console table or hall tables in your decorating can add much versatility to your home. Aside from all the above mentioned ideas, it has been used in the dining room as a serving table or side board. Placing a console table in a spare bedroom or guest room makes for a nice bedside table or vanity perfect for helping your guest feel welcome. Console tables can be used as a secretary or small desk when there is no room for a fully functioning home office. No matter how it is use, the console table can be a piece of home furniture that is comfortable and versatile in almost any room in the house of office.
Next you need to think of a little deeper cleaning. As you are coming in and out, especially if you have been working in the garden or had food and drink in your hands, chances are a little bit of that dirt or food and grime has transferred itself to your console tables. You are going to want to get this off of the console tables so take a cloth with some warm, soapy water and clean the table up. Generally all you have to do is wipe it a little bit and whatever dust or dirt is there will come right off.
